COVID Update

Dear Parishioners:

The latest CDC guidelines say that temperature checks are not particularly effective for detecting COVID-19. They encourage people to self-check, more for symptoms than simply temperature. The CDC continues to recommend social distancing, wearing masks and vaccination.

The latest advice also says it is unlikely (1 in 10,000) to contract COVID-19 from touching surfaces which have been touched by someone who has COVID. The virus is predominantly airborne, so wearing masks (not gators or bandanas) covering both nose and chin and social distancing are the keys.

Taking temperatures and sanitizing pews is probably overkill at this point. We have installed ultra-violet filters in our HVAC systems in all facilities, so we are ahead of the recommendations on that.

The Archdiocese is going to issue amended guidelines next week in line with the revised State mandates. We will amend our parish practices as necessary once I see what those new guidelines contain.

Sincerely,

Msgr. Edward J. Dillon, J.C.D., Pastor
