Scripture Study Men's Friday Morning (Bible Buckaroos)
Category: Adult Enrichment
Description:
The Friday Men's Scripture Study has been meeting since 1984. More popularly known as the "Holy Spirit Bible Buckaroos," the group was established in honor of the Speiss family who tragically died in an automobile crash the previous Christmas season. After their death, that group donated a memorial to Holy Spirit with hopes that it would provide seed money to start a Scripture study. Four different groups were formed, one of which was the "Buckaroos."
The “Buckaroos” meet on Friday mornings from 7:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. They choose a book of the Bible, find a good Catholic-based commentary, then meet to read and discuss the Scripture's meaning to us as we lead our lives in our families, worship, and work. They occasionally find topical Christian literature, e.g., C.S. Lewis' "Screwtape Letters" to read as a group to provide some variety. An important part of every meeting is the prayer and intercession time, when they praise the Father and "storm heaven" with prayer requests.
