Maybe some of you are wondering “Why did they choose Phoenix as a name?” The use of the phoenix as a Christian image dates to the early Christians. The phoenix was commonly used as a symbol for Christ’s resurrection and eternity.
Near the end of the first century, St. Clement of Rome wrote about the legendary bird’s ability to die in its own ashes only to rise again (in a similar way to Christ). He concluded, “Do we then deem it any great and wonderful thing for the Maker of all things to raise up again those that have piously served Him in the assurance of a good faith, when even by a bird He shows us the mightiness of His power to fulfill His promise?
