Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

“The time you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the best time that you will
spend on earth. Each moment that you spend with Jesus will deepen your union with
Him and make your soul everlastingly more glorious and beautiful in heaven, and will
help bring about an everlasting peace on earth." - Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Hours for Adoration

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is held in St. Mary’s Chapel on the first Friday of the month from 9:00 AM until 5:30 PM on Friday and again from 6:30 PM until 8:30 AM the following Saturday morning, and on Sunday mornings from 9:30 AM until 12:30 PM.

What are Guardians?
Jesus asked, “Could you not spend one hour with me?” Eucharistic Adoration allows parishioners the opportunity to sit in prayer with the Blessed Sacrament. Visitors are invited to come into St. Mary’s Chapel whenever we have Eucharistic Adoration. Guardians typically commit to a specific time slot, usually an hour.

Urgent Need for Guardians:
First Friday:  4:00 PM
Sundays: 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Important Things to Remember

  • We REALLY need at least two Guardians for each hour that the Blessed Sacrament is exposed.
  • It’s important for each Guardian to “own” his/her hour and take responsibility for finding a substitute either by sending out an e-mail to the sub list OR by contacting people individually on the substitute list.
  • Please sign in - whether you are a Guardian or a visitor. Use the iPad on the sign in table.
  • Jesus should never be left alone. If a replacement has not arrived when it’s time for a Guardian to leave, and they are unable to wait for their replacement, then they should notify the parish office at 404-252-4513 so someone can repose the Blessed Sacrament. Guardians should not leave the Blessed Sacrament alone without telling the parish office.

Evening Adoration Procedure

All doors to the church facility will be locked at 10:00 p.m. Guardians and visitors coming to St. Mary's Chapel for Adoration will need to enter the church building from the double doors closest to St. Mary's Chapel, near McDonough Hall. A door bell will ring into the chapel (during overnight Adoration hours only). Guardians in the Chapel are able to open the door remotely and allow other faithful into the chapel WITHOUT having to leave St. Mary's. *Please plan to park either in the upper lot along Mt. Paran or by the Church office. The doors closest to the Chapel are the ONLY doors which can be open remotely from the Chapel.
