Throughout history, writers, religious thinkers, and ordinary people alike have reflected on the universal theme of death. In this session, we will examine two works: Sara Suleri’s “The Immoderation of Ifat”, a chapter from her first book Meatless Days (1953– ), and David Sedaris’s essay “Now We Are Five” (1956– ). Both pieces explore how the act of retelling personal loss shapes and transforms the storyteller.

The Great Books Discussion Group will meet on Thursday, November 13, at 7:00 PM in Malta Hall. Subsequent meetings will be held monthly, with selections from the Great Books Foundation series. Contact Patrick Carey at 770-241-2511 for further information.
