Winter Clothing Drive

Elizabeth Richter is an 11th grade parishioner working on her Girl Scout Gold Award (equivalent to Eagle Scout). For her project, Elizabeth is addressing the issue of improper clothing limiting students’ success in school. Not having a winter coat can result in physical problems, such as a decrease in physical activity and an increased risk for illness, as well as educational problems like skipping school, decrease in learning, and possibly dropping out of school entirely. When Centro moved to the HSCC offices, there was no longer room for St. Catherine’s Closet (clothing closet available to Centro families). As an alternative, and to address the issue, Elizabeth’s Gold Award project will give families availability for winter clothes in January and school clothes in July. During the month of December, Elizabeth will be collecting coats, hats, gloves, and other cold weather clothing. There will be collection bins in the Narthex from December 1st - 19th. The clothing will be available to the families in January. Your support is appreciated.
