Baby Bottle Drive to Benefit Pregnancy Aid Clinic

Pregnancy Aid Clinic staff are in the Narthex after all Masses this weekend. Pick up a “flat baby bottle” envelope, and fill it with a gift to benefit their mission of promoting the sanctity of human life as recognized in the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Alternatively, you may visit the virtual baby bottle drive page using the link on the parish website, or go directly to www.pregnancyaidclinic.com/babybottle, to make an online donation.

Pregnancy Aid Clinic is the only Catholic pregnancy resource center endorsed by the Archdiocese of Atlanta. PAC offers women free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, education, resources, and earn-as-you-learn programs. Please support this life-saving mission with your prayers and donations. Faith in Action

2022 Christmas Angel Program - Last Week to Contribute!

Parishioners are once again invited to make a financial contribution toward the 2022 Christmas Angel gift fund; volunteers will take care of the details! No lists, no standing in line, no gift wrap!

In past years, the suggested gift amount has been $100 per person. We are hoping to collect a minimum of $35,000. The number of families we can help this year depends on the generosity of our parishioners. Our parish has been blessed in so many ways, please consider sharing some of those blessings with those who can’t afford to bring the joys of Christmas to their families.

Thank you for your support as we bring the Christmas spirit to families in need.

All checks should be made payable to Holy Spirit with “Christmas Angel” in the memo. The deadline to participate is has been extended to December 16th.

Sweet Treats from the Monastery

The Knights of Columbus are offering items from Holy Spirit Monastery for the Christmas season, including biscotti, fudge, fruit cake, and honey. The monks need our support and buying these tasty items is a great way to help them. Orders will be accepted online through December 1st, and all items will be available for pick up the weekend of December 10th and 11th. Please use this link to place your order.

Volunteers Needed for Homeless Ministry

Holy Spirit’s Homeless Ministry needs prepared hot meals, sack lunches and breakfast bags each time we serve. Here is the link to volunteer. Children are welcome to attend and participate if they are accompanied by their parent or guardian. If you have a group that wishes to serve either or both sides of a shelter evening, please contact Kevin Skedsvold at 404-271-0538.

Winter Clothing Drive

Our annual winter coat drive is kicking off soon! Not having a winter coat can result in physical problems, such as a decrease in physical activity and an increased risk for illness, as well as educational problems, including skipping school, a decrease in learning, and even dropping out of school. During the month of December, we will be collecting coats, hats, gloves, and other cold weather clothing to support our Centro community. Today is the last day for our winter clothing drive. The clothing will be available to the families in January. Your support is appreciated.

Last Chance to Buy Malta Ornaments

‘Tis the season! Members from the Sovereign Military Order of Malta are pleased to announce our 2022 Christmas ornament:  the Holy Spirit. The ornaments are $30 each or $25 each for two or more ornaments. All proceeds will benefit Holy Family Hospital in Bethlehem, located just 1,500 steps away from where Jesus was born. Holy Family Hospital is the premier maternity hospital and newborn critical care center for the Bethlehem region and is the only hospital in the region that can deliver and save babies born before 32 weeks, some weighing as little as one pound. Volunteers will be in the Narthex today for last-minute ornament sales.  Ornament orders also maybe placed online and picked up in the parish office during regular office hours. Or, we will ship within the US for $8. Free giftwrap is also available. Please allow 24 hours for processing.

Adult Faith Formation

Msgr. Dillon Hosts Pastor's Forum

Join Msgr. Dillon at 10:00 a.m., today, Sunday, December 18th, in McDonough Hall for his Pastor's Forum.

Deadline to Register for RCIA is December 19th

Would you or someone you know like to learn more about the Catholic faith and what Catholics profess to believe? Perhaps you—or your spouse or fiancé—would like to become Catholic? Maybe you were raised Catholic, but never received the sacrament of Confirmation? Or maybe you’ve drifted away from the Church and want to renew your connection to Catholicism by entering into full communion with the Church.

R.C.I.A. aims to address all the above situations. The class can be taken for information only and there is never any pressure to be confirmed, although participants are fully prepared for Baptism, Penance, Eucharist, and/or Confirmation if desired. We are now enrolling for the next session of R.C.I.A. which will begin on Sunday, January 8th, and conclude on Sunday, May 7th, with reception into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil Mass on Saturday evening April 8th. The class will meet on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m., with Mass either preceding at 8:30 a.m. or following at 11:30 a.m.. Should a resurgence of COVID occur, we are able to adapt the program to remote delivery without interruption to the curriculum.

A nominal fee of $35 is required to register for the course; this fee helps cover the cost of books and other materials. Because acceptance into the program requires pastoral approval, prospective R.C.I.A. participants should begin gathering now sacramental documents, including—if applicable—certificates of baptism and marriage. Remote and in-person interviews with participants are now being held; please contact Dr. David King at dking@hsccatl.com to arrange registration. The deadline for registration is Monday December 19th.
